Requires Community Builder? 10 Months, 2 Weeks ago
This moolet requires community builder? Everyone talks up CB but I have yet to see why. It turns an elegant site into an ugly one. Isn't it possible to have this run with just the joomla users and fireboard profile?

EDIT: also, I can't download it...

Thanks for letting me know, that moolet was stuck in edit mode, I fixed it.

That Moolet Fireboard will work with out community builder yes. Give it a try, any troubles let me know.

From an application developers prospective, or one who builds products for corporations for money lets say, comnunity builder is a must. It allows to to create new fields for data, then with the list builder build applications in little time to view the data.

So if a client wants an appliction built that would costs say $1,500.00 to hand code, making that fair market values for the bid. Then you can turn around and knock that out in an hour with community builder you can in effectly make $1,500 / hr.

If you then add that, install Fabrik and groupLive you can get into the $5,000 a day range if you have the right clients.

As far as ugly, it has templates just like joomla, make one you like and use it on all your sites.

Hope that helps.

interesting...

I am currently working on a community website for a bunch of friends and online gamers. It's going to center around the forum and Community Builder has great features but I never seem to like how it looks. I will look into the templates. I would just like an all purpose login for community builder/fireboard/comments etc... I know this can be achieved but I'm having a bit of trouble with it. I just want to take advantage of the CB user profile for the most part. What else should I implement for such a website? Any suggestions?

Haha, I'm sorry, but you are one of the few people that has given me a straight answer. It's nice to register for one site and ask a few extra questions. I'll probably keep asking until you don't answer anymore If you don't mind...

Thanks a lot for updating that download. I'm going to give it a try now!

If the download does not work withou CB send the URL so I can see the error.

Really community Builder, GroupJive and Fireboard are the main three if you are not a hardcore application developer. All of those work play well togther. The folks at goup jive have a mod that allows fireboard forums to show up inside a group, but only for that group. so each group has private group threads while the main site has all the threads minus the group threads.

They probably have better forums for creating communities as that is what gj is all about.

check them out at

I see...

I was able to get the fireboard moolet to work. However, after installing community builder on my localhost (running wamp5 to test things out..)

I get this error:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 6144 bytes) in C:wampwwwpsycho3mambotscontentrokzoomimagehandler.php on line 739

I've seen people describe ways to increase the memory size to allow it to work, but I tried and failed... Any ideas?
